PT Code Official

Reports To: Borough Manager

Compensation: $15/hour, 15 hours per week

Work Schedule: Flexible shifts, primarily within business hours

Job Summary:

The Code Official will support the Borough of Wesleyville’s Code Enforcement efforts by assisting with administrative tasks and ensuring compliance with local ordinances. This position works in partnership with the Code Enforcement Officer at the Wesleyville Police Department and reports directly to the Borough Manager. The role is essential in maintaining the quality and safety of properties within the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Code Enforcement Officer and Chief of Police to support code enforcement activities.
  • Compile and maintain lists of properties with active code violations.
  • Draft and send initial and follow-up communications, including 1st and 2nd warnings, to property owners regarding code violations.
  • Monitor and follow up on properties after fines have been levied and collected to ensure violations are properly addressed.
  • Maintain organized records of violations, notices, fines, and compliance actions.
  • Assist in preparing reports and documentation for the Borough Manager, Code Enforcement Officer, and Chief of Police.
  • Provide general administrative support to enhance efficiency in code enforcement processes.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in public administration, law enforcement, or a related field is a plus.
  • Experience in administrative work, municipal government, or code enforcement preferred.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with municipal officials.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and database management.
  • Knowledge of local codes and ordinances is a plus but not required.
