Please be advised, milling and resurfacing work will be conducted on several Borough roads during the week of July 8th.
The 3 Borough-owned roads are:
- Gray Avenue, full length from Eastern Ave to Willow St.
- Willow Street, from Buffalo Rd to Fremont St.
- Idlewood Drive, full length from Water St to Market St.
- 6 ADA ramps. to be replaced on Idlewood.
NOTE: No on-street parking during at least the week of July 8th.
The preliminary schedule is:
Monday 7/8 – Mill all 3 streets.
Tuesday 7/9 – Lay scratch course asphalt layer.
ADA Ramp Construction – Idlewood Dr will have several ramps reconstructed.
Final surface laid down – This is to be completed after the ADA ramps and the exact time is dependent on the ADA ramps being completed.
Why these roads?
These roads were selected because they were not in good condition, they are closely located to other roads that have been impacted this year, and they were within the remaining budget for this year.
The Borough is unable at this time to improve its concrete streets that are in bad condition. Concrete roads must be completely reconstructed from scratch which costs 10 times more than a simple mill and resurface.
If you have thoughts/comments about the Borough’s pavement management process please direct those to Manager@wesleyville.gov and they will be incorporated into future decision making.
Contractor Selection
At the June 12th Council Meeting, the bids were opened and McCormick Construction Co. was the lowest bidder coming in at $104,116 compared to Lindy Paving’s $136,695. Therefore, the Council awarded the contract to McCormick.
The Borough is proud that the contractor is a business located in the Borough!
